Richard Hawley

Went to Manchester despite dubious train service and saw Jade Jackson for the first time in the UK - I've seen her a couple of times before - but in Nashville and Hamburg. She was supporting LA Edwards, but I'm not a fan of theirs, so I headed back after her slot.

Then it was the first of two trips to Germany in a fortnight to attend the fantastic Static Roots Festival in Oberhausen, organised principally by my friends Dietmar and Marion Leibecke. Good times were had by all.

Then it was briefly back home to play a private gig in Devon with my own band before travelling back and catching another flight back to Germany, this time to see Taylor Swift in Hamburg and Munich.
In Hamburg I was up in the gods, but in Munich I was much closer to the stage:

Covered The Long Road Festival for a couple of websites, just a week after I'd had sinus surgery -my nose was still snotty and bloody, but the festival was better than ever. Good to catch up with Andrew Combs and Kassi Valazza's band, both of whom I've previously booked in Biddulph. Emotional Sunday morning seeing the return of My Darling Clementine after the horrendous summer that their family has had, but a cathartic celebration of all that's good as it turned out, with a wonderfully warm audience reception.

A couple of days later I headed up to Manchester to see Vincent Neil Emerson and Kassi Valazza at Gulliver's - both had been at The Long Road festival

It was back to Gulliver's a couple of weeks later to catch Esther Rose, who I've been playing non-stop for the last couple of months.


Next up is the Frank Carter/Sex Pistols thing in Manchester, followed by John Blek/Evangeline Gentle the next day in Biddulph.
