Got a phone call from a mate on Saturday - would I be interested in having some old camera gear that belonged to the father of one of his mates, who'd died. The family were going to dump the lot in a charity shop, but prefered to hand the gear over to someone who would make use of it - no cost. Anyway, mate Rich brought over several bags this morning. The first two contained Praktika bodies and an assortment of standard and wide M42 eastern european primes - nothing too exciting, but I had adapters for them all. Then I opened the final bag - oh my word - a Leica M2 in great condition with a 50mm F1,5 and 30mm and 90mm. I checked that the family knew about what they were giving away - and they just wanted rid. I've just googled the values of this lot...not that I'll be selling - once I've read through the manual I'll be running some film through this beauty. I've also order a Leica-Sony adapter so I can use the lenses digitally too. Merry Solstice to me!

My band played for the first time in 17 months (outdoors/socially distanced/we forgot a few things but only we noticed) and we're playing Ely Folk Festival in July.
Niece the elder got a first in the 3rd year of her Pharmacy degree.Niece the younger won student of the year at her college and is starting at Sheffield Hallam in September to train to become a special Ed teacher

Yolanda Saldaña Namassa is a big RH fan from Mexico who I got connected with through Facebook - around 18 months ago her page went worryingly silent - she was a regular poster. Seems she had a debilitating illness which left her in hospital for a year or more. It was touch and go for a while but she's on the mend -she still has a long way to go, but is learning to walk again and get some semblance of her life back.

Strange forces are at play. Yesterday a random thought appeared in my mind ''Wouldn't it be great if Richard played Leicester De Montfort Hall, doubt it will ever happen though...'' And then I looked on here a moment ago & it actually is going to happen . My home town & a venue with huge personal significance.
