Thank you both 8) It's reassuring to know that it's not just me that thinks they've taken a liberty.

The bloke who allegedly stole from my hotel room in Glasgow pleaded guilty to two other charges and got sent down for sixth months but not guilty to the theft of my stuff, so I get nothing back unless I pursue a civil claim, which doesn't look as if it'd be much use due to his not guilty plea. Bugger.

One camera and lens were taken - and an iPad - and several t-shirts and some CDs I'd just bought from Missing Records (How ironic is that...) -about £1600 to replace everything.

Annoying, especially when the stuff will probably be sold for a fraction of its true worth and we all know why that will be.

The Track and Trace app appears to be bollocks.
On 5th October I discovered a notification in the app that I should have been self-isolating since 1st October...but I hadn'r received a notification - and they were allowed on my phone.
In the 14 days prior to the start of the self-isolation I'd left the house as follows;
1. From 14th to 28th I didn't leave the house and had no visitors -had a precautionary home test on the 27th (I had tonsillitis) which showed I was clear.
2.. Went to Liverpool with a friend on 28th September -socially distanced all day. Friend and I both used the QR code check in three times - she hasn't been given any notification to self-isolate so that would imply that it wasn't my trip to Liverpool where I'd been close to someone infected, or she'd have been notified too.
3. Went to a cafe with sister and brother-in-law for my birthday. Used their QR code, was appropriately distanced. Cafe is still open, which they wouldn't be if the issue had arisen there. Sister and brother-in-law not using the app (Sister works for the police so not allowed to...) so wouldn't affect the notifications anyway.
4. 30th September - visited an empty church to check seating arrangements for a socially distanced gig we're putting on. Three other people there - one works in a care home and is checked weekly and is clear. Her partner is having chemo and gets checked every time he goes to the hospital and is clear. Neither use the app. Other bloke is clear (checked last night) and doesn't use the app.
5. Since midday on 30th September I've been at home and not left the house nor had visitors.

So why am I getting a notification that I've been near someone with COVID 19 (and others haven't who were with me on the one day when a random encounter may have happened -but - within two metres - for fifteen minutes? Didn't happen).

This notification doesn't fit the pattern of other false notifications I have read about - those have involved a pop-up notification and when clicked upon, there's nothing in the app - mine was the opposite -no pop-up, and I only discovered it by chance in the app.
It could be bluetooth going through the wall and picking up something from my neighbour's house?

Whatever it is, it seems barely reliable but very confusing and disconcerting...

I was so pissed off yesterday with the government's attack on jobs in the arts that the only thing I could do was write an angry song.

Warning. It says "fuck" or similar 16 times and incites revolution:

BURN by The Credit Card of Hope

Just when we need them the most there aren't enough flu vaccinations to go round

UPS have done very well over the last few days, succeeding in not getting my parcel to me on three occasions.

1: Did not leave it at the UPS Access Point (corner shop) & gave the reason ''Item refused''. Which was news to the shop keeper when I told him.

2: Tried to deliver to my home on Friday, having given me a specific delivery time on Monday. They seemed surprised that I was not available to receive it.

3: Sent a text notification at lunchtime yesterday to say that I'd refused delivery. Which was news to me, having not moved from the window all morning & not seen anyone approach the house. I spoke to customer services immediately & they promise delivery today. Online tracking shows parcel is now half way back to the sender.......

My sympathies.
I must say I am surprised it being UPS as they deliver to my workplace almost every day and I count them as one of the best couriers, along with DHL.
However, good luck with Hermes or Yodel, they are atrocious.

Yes, Yodel once delivered something to my old workplace. Only I couldn't find it. After a bit of investigating I found it had gone to another industrial estate altogether. :*:
