Yesterday I picked up a 2 disc, definative Everly Bros compilation and The Very best of The Byrds for £6 each from Music Zone in Sheffield. That shop sell some seriously good stuff......seriously cheap! I also buy shitloads off Play.com ont t'internet!

Where do you get yours?

Do you pay over the odds??.......discuss.......!!

It depends usually i find cd101 very cheap, free postage and packaging as well!

But if i'm in town i'll probably nip into Virgin as Coventry doesnt really have any cheap and decent music stores!

Fopp is quite good too!

I've ordered a couple of times off 101 but they took feckin ages to deliver, whereas PLAY & CD WOW are usually on the doorstep in 2 days max!....but 101 do have a humungus selection of stuff!!

I buy any new releases from CDwow cuz they deliver F'IN fast and are usually 8.99 free p+p......and that's for ltd edtns too!

for older stuff I'll go to cd101 or play.com, but most of the time I'll use that kalkoo.com comparison thingy and see which shop does the cheapest.

I selected all of the above though cuz if a band I love release something I'll want it on the day of release.

LP :Oink:

Along with your usual HMV and Virgin (both of which are geting worse) I can always be tempted to lighten my wallet in Fopp. Good secondhand shops in Sheffield are few and far between these days, gone are the likes of Hitsville and Amazing Records where you could get cheap affordable stuff along with the collectables. Jacks is overpriced (and way too small since the move) and the only other place I know these days is Record Collector, what else is there? Manchester has loads of seconhand shops, but most are overpriced.

On the net I find CD Wow best for new stuff, Plastic Bird is good for second hand indie type stuff, and there's always GEMM, Netsounds and Musicstack - if you can't find what you want on there it probably doesn't exist!

I tried CD101 a few times but they never managed to produce the goods. I eventually spoke to someone there who admitted that what they list online is just a catalogue, not actual stock, so if it's old or rare then they probably won't ever get it.

You can't beat a good car boot sale though!!!

oh and I buy stuff from track records in donny as well if the mood takes me - they do good stuff sometimes, but I prefered 'em when they were in the frenchgate centre!

Donny are getting their own Music Zone shop this year. They really are very good, racks and racks of top stuff for 5 and 6 quid!

I'm Sean and Michele buys all mine for me.

No hang on. I'm a big fan of Record Collector in Broomhill, that's an amazing emporium of new and used stuff, they have regular acoustic sessions and a vinyl shop next door. Polar Bear on Ecclesall Road were good but have now gone...Forever Changes further up the same road has some good stuff. In town, I try and avoid the big chains and would doff my cap towards Fopp and Music Zone.

I thought Tracks in Donny had closed LP?

Nope, it's just moved again. It's now on the Priory Place end of Priory Walk. It's not the same as it used to be though, it's got worse every time they've moved. They seem to have lost vinyl during this move...

Ah, I see. Last time I was in Donny I just saw the empty place on Scott Lane. Remember when Tracks was on St Sepulchre gate near the underpass. It was great then.

Me being an old get, I remember the record shops at the top of Barkers Pool (Where the trendy bars are now!) built into an old air raid shelter!! Also, I think it was...errr....Roulette Records on Chapel Walk.

I remember Roulette Records being at the Moor end of Pinstone Street.

That's gone now though.

In fact, I remember once having an argument with someone on the Neil Finn forum once when I said that HMV stands for His Masters Voice.

Would he have it? Would he fuck.
