Saw John Grant last night at Cambridge and he was absolutely fantastic beyond my expectations, just brilliant, the hour and forty minutes he was on just flew past, seemed more like fifteen he was that good, standing ovation at the end.

No London gig this time round but I have tickets for his Royal Albert Hall gig in June.

Totally agree that the time flies past - remember seeing him first at the Jazz Café which is tiny and very intimate, the band was just John and his keyboard player. I'd been a fan since his days with the Czars and so pleased just to get the chance to see him live. So pleased he's now achieving the recognition he always deserved.

Bit late but John Grant was fantastic last Friday, best yet in the half dozen times we've seen him.
The new songs in particular were booming in the Town Hall. :Hoorah

Jealous of tonight's Sheffield gig, Hawley has just joined him on stage (info courtesy of J Kent).

And to think I nearly didn't go! Was secretly hoping the special guest might be Conor O'Brien, but Mr H was fine by me - for two songs too ;)

John's BBC Music Festival is on the BBC red button today and someone has put a torrent of it on Dimeadozen.

Not that many years ago that would have made no sense whatsoever! :*:
