Thought so! The headland in the background is Penarth and the flats you can just about see on top of the headland are the Billybanks, currently being demolished to make way for new housing and in an uncanny forum tie up where John Lewis (from Penarth) recorded his latest album:

I know Gilfach Goch well Richard. The organisation I work for manages some housing there. Funny place, one road in, same road out, presumably this ran up to a mine at some point in the past. As a result its a very close community though.

her Nan lived and worked in the old post office for years and years with her husband, lovely woman sadly missed, her speaking voice was so beautiful she held me spellbound telling stories of her life,i only met her a few times before she passed away but she made an impact on me.

Saw Y Niwl supporting Gruff Rhys last night in Cardiff. Great set and proved they are no one trick pony by doing a double shift as Gruff's backing band. Shame on those who stayed out of the hall until the main act came on (probably about 70% of the eventual audience were missing).

I bought the vinyl yesterday after hearing it on Richard's New Year radio show. I nearly bought the CD but now I'm glad I waited. I got the free download straight away and put it on my ipod and was delighted to get the vinyl by post today - great service.

I'm so glad I went to see Y Niwl on 31st January at Telford's Warehouse, Chester. I was not disappointed, they were great and the two support artists The Atlas Twins and Sam Airey were very good too.
