When I spoke to my sister up in Yorkshire at about 8 o'clock there wasn't a flake here. It's been coming down thick and fast for the last couple of hours though, Julie, so I guess it'll be on its way across to you soon!

Glad to hear it! :D

I've got a pile of books to read and would rather be doing that than filing emails at work........ :? :D

There is plenty of snow here, the roads are clear but slippy. I'm glad I don't have to drive.

Finally snowed here this afternoon. Not much in the big scheme of things, but looks like the council used up all the salt when it was just icy, as no gritters have been round at all tonight. Got a diversion for roadworks, which hasn't been gritted. Got halfway home & had to backtrack & try a different route as I couldn't get the car up a hill. Did a pretty good impersonation of that scene in 'Ice Cold In Alex', sliding back down. :*: Can ill afford a day off work, but it would be rather nice to stay at home & build a snowman 8)

We have snow, but not a lot. Front garden has a lot of green still showing.

Tubes and buses are mostly okay (exceptions to the West of London) and rail companies to the East are running revised services so looks like some of us are definitely going to work today.

The National Rail web site is down, presumably can't cope with the volume of people trying to access it.

I'm using the BBC site which seems more resilient so anyone who does want to check the status of trains etc. try this link:

Not enough snow to warrant staying at home  So I have to brave the usual chaos of National Express East Anglia trains and hope they can get me to work some time today

I'm working from home today. South West Trains have suspended some of the trains on my line up to Waterloo and I didn't fancy standing about on a station platform for hours .. and there's more snow forecast for London later today so I didn't want to get stuck at work and not be able to get home.

They're forecasting more snow for the rest of the week too - getting a bit worried about Saturday's gig :(

It has been heavy snow in London for the past hour or so, still no sign of an announcement that we can go home though! :?

I have just bought a pair of wellies from ebay - they have 2.5 inch wedge heels so I should be able to walk in them - ironically they're coming from Sheffield which means that even getting to a post office could be a problem for the seller!!

We're forecast snow in Chelmsford until Sunday so I might get them in time to christen them this year, failing that I'll be ready for the next snowfall...... :D

Home. We had light snow in Victoria and it was not settling except on roof tops of the school next door.

Here at home we have medium snow, settling but not even an inch deep and with people constantly walking on the pavements I doubt it will get any deeper until later (if the snow continues). Walking on the pavement was not pleasant but I was glad I made the decision for myself and my colleague to leave early as I would not have liked to walk with the rush hour crowd around.

got snowed in yesterday, attempted going into work, waited ages for bus and when one finally arrived the driver said they were taking buses off in 20 mins, so i went home, spent the morning making a snowman & a very small igloo with my daughter in our back garden! got an e.mail from work saying they were sending everyone home at 2.30 so i'm glad i didn't go in... wanted it to snow again today though so i could finish the igloo!

Lots of snow in Oxford today:

Ashmolean Museum under a nice cover of the white stuff

Driving was a nightmare, and all this stuff is going to freeze hard tonight - hence carnage tomorrow morning! :( . I wish I could feel all warm and cozy about the snow but I just find it stressful.
