Finally got a few inches of the stuff in Matlock this morning, although it has stopped now. Dunno what it is about Matlock, but we don't get much anymore. Had one or two dustings over the Christmas and New Year, but nothing significant.

As I live just a 15 minute walk from where I work, I doubt I will be sent home early, so no sledging for me today

Keep warm and safe everyone.

Steve

i walked down meersbrook park at about 12, loads of sledgin and 2 snowboarders - hardcore.

I spent 2 hours clearing snow this morning from half 7 at school, by 10 it looked like i'd done nowt. This school never shuts apparently so i'll be back at 3 to do it all again.

can't believe they tried to keep the school open this morning in this. like siberia in leeds. nearly burnt the clutch out getting to school only to be told that we we're sending them home as they got in. brilliant. the senior management couldn't run a piss up in a brewery.

It's snowing in South East Wales at last! The kids were sent home from school - pathetic really - there's only 1/2 inch of snow. Who care though - they seem to be having a great time out there.

Make sure Dave's wearing his vest - I don't want him coming down with chin cough...

This global cooling is a real worry.

I thought I'd never see this kind of snow again so overall I like it, reminds me of winters growing up in the sixties.

Made it to central Manchester for work, kids school closed and wives boss told her not to come in. Only about three people in the office, hence I can do this without fear of anyone watching.

What chaos in Donny today! We never have snow but there is loads of the stuff and it's still falling on a day that could have gone much better!
Had to take my car in for servicing and was going to "borrow" Mrs LPD car on my route back home and then goto the hairdressers. Unfortunately Mrs LPD car wouldn't start at at 6.30am so had to take her to work, drive back home and then take my car to the garage for 8.00am by which time the snow was coming down hard! Could not find a bus to get back home so lazily caught a taxi which could not get up our street so had to walk last 1/4 mile.
Couldn't get to the hairdressers but didn't matter as I heard later she was off because she had broken her wrist falling in the snow. Incidently, the service manager at the garage who was actually in work with plaster up to her elbow having fallen at the weekend in the stuff.
Managed to start Mrs LPD's car and struggled through the traffic and snow to pick her up at 1.00pm! Got stuck trying to drive home but managed to push the car free and now we are back home inthe warm and settled in. Phew - and all for 6 inches of the white stuff! :D
