one more thing and then I will stop talking endlessly about myself.

just want to let you know they're putting our ugly mugs on tellyvision on a wee 10 minute documentary about us broadcast on ch4 at 00:30 (i think) on Monday 20th when the album comes out. It's just good cos Paul Morley is on it saying all clever bonkers things about how we're actually good and stuff. mental.

will shut up now.

The Sun gives the album four stars -

"When it comes to twee pop Camera Obscura are up there with the twee-est of the twee.

With funfair-like melodies and haunting vocals the Scots have carved a niche for themslelves in Indie pop circles as heartbreak musicians.

My Maudlin Career, as the name suggests, is again full of sorrow - but is nonetheless a beautiful album, with stand-out tracks Away With Murder and James fit for any broken heart.

But its not all doom and gloom. French Navy could have been recorded by the Ronettes and The Sweetest Thing is an upbeat affair."

:D

Yes, got a mail from them today about the album launch.

If we're putting out a new album shouldn't we have a launch party you ask? Good idea. Becasue we live in Glasgow, we thought we'd have one here, in Mono from 8.30pm on Sunday Night (19th April). Feel free to pop along and here the new album and us DJing, join us for a tincture, and Monorail will even be opening at midnight in case you can't wait till the morning to buy one. There will be a raffle, with prizes, and if any of us are still capable of holding a pen at midnight, we'll sign your albums.

Also, if you find yourself near a wireless or an interweb on Saturday,
we're live on Jonathan Ross on BBC Radio 2 (18th April).

Then on Monday night (12.30am: its Tuesday morning really, if you insist on pedancy, but you know what i mean) - Paul Morley hosts a documentary on Camera Obscura: A Band Beginning with C, on Channel 4 on your telly.

Listened to the whole album today it is truly wonderful it could be my favourite album this year & that's after only 2 runs through. There's some benefit to working in a record store....sometimes. :thumleft:

Got it but not yet listened as I've only just got in from a gig. Day off tomorrow so it will be the first thing to be played.

The release date over here was put back to this coming Friday, though I have managed to come by it by alternate (and legal) means. You'll like it.

My Maudlin Career nearly makes me cry. In a good way. Love the shimmering piano in the background. Dunno if it's a mixture of the voice and production but I get a Cocteau Twins/Sundays vibe from it. Really, really good.
