Hi Denise, just been listening to the Martin Stephenson tribute album and now to the man himself which are both right up my street. Thanks for info, do you know how or where I can get hold of either recordings? He is in Aldershot in September which is not far from Reading so might toddle along to that. Hx

I'll have a word with the guys who run the My Space sites as I'd like the recordings myself.

I saw Martin in January in Aldershot - great gig :) It's only 40m from Reading and the West End Centre is a nice little venue as well.

(I didn't realise he was playing there again this year so thanks for the info).

Well Simon , you get about a bit, are you up and down the country selling them sofas?

I sent him (M.S.) a message from myspace saying I heard about him on the Richard Hawley forum and where can I buy his stuff and he said "I just wing my records out on www.voiceprint.co.uk or live shows I don't know Richard Hawley Im an old guy now, maybe my daughter knows him,
I will ask her"
He's 47yrs old, bless!

Hx

*, no, I mentioned the Sheffield gig as there is probably some local interest on this forum..

Sofa King is more a lifestyle than a job :)

Thanks for the voiceprint link - hadn't come across that one before.

I'm sure I remember RH saying that he hadn't come across Martin Stephenson before which is a shame as I am sure there is a fair bit of common musical ground there.

Cheers,

Simon

I thought you might be interested in this email from Candlelit records who are doing the Martin Stephenson Tribute album. They seem to have some great artists, the gigs a bit far from Reading for me though, shame!

Hello Helen and thank you for the message.
The Martin Stephenson tribute CD will be available soon.
We are presenting the CD to Martin at a gig at The Debees Music Bar in Winsford, Cheshire on 30th July - the CD will be released shortly afterwards.
If you send me an email address, I will keep you informed.
Regarding other artists - again if you send me details via email of those you are interested in, I will pass on the relevant details.
We are currently working on a compilation CD - featuring artists who have appeared at Candlelit gigs.
Have you visited:-

www.myspace.com/candlelitacoustic

Also a DVD of some great Candlelit moments featuring selected artists.

Many thanks again for your enquiry Helen.
Take care
Love and light

What a blast from the past, Martin Stephenson came to do an appearance at the old HMV in Leeds when he released Salutation Road in 1990, what a smashing bloke he was, just turned up on his own with his guitar & serenaded all the girls in the shop....aah fond memories, he was a bit of a dish as i recall but that could be my aged mind playing tricks. Talented bloke though, down to earth & that.
