Had a splendid time the other night in Aldershot with John Power and his band. Criminally underattended, there must have been about 70 odd people there (obviously that's approximately 70 people, not 70...odd people...oh, never mind  )

The music was great, moved away in a more rootsy, slightly folkish direction than his previous sound - Merseysippi Music as it says on his website.

Really nice bluesy sound as well. The bass player played guitar a lot of the time which gave the songs a different, more intimate sound. Well recommended if he's round your way

Here's a couple of snaps I took.

He played solo in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent last Saturday but, because we were playing at the same time, I missed seeing him (apart from in the beer garden of the Leopard where he was having a swift half). Heard good reports though.

John Power and his band are performing at the Crosby Music Festival in Crosby village, north Liverpool, tomorrow (Sunday May 25) at around 5pm. It's free and outdoor. The local pubs and Sefton Council are co-funding it.

The Christians are playing on Bank Holiday Monday, again at around 5pm.

Right, as soon as David and Carrie's Pop Shop wraps up on CBeebies, we're all off to see John Power do his stuff on the outdoor stage in Crosby village. Are pirate swords allowed at music festivals nowadays?

John Power was very good. He said he was being paid in cheese pasties, not cash. He got a good reception. The Christians play tomorrow.

Swashbuckling little Paddy got away with wielding his foam cutlass in public but he was quizzed by the rozzers on suspicion of having an offensive dad. Mrs N was caught on CCTV changing his sodden nappy. She was cautioned for handling swollen goods.

Wheeeey-heeey!!
