Did a search to see if there was a topic about the lads and suprisingly not :? so I thought I'd make one.

I'm only 20 years old so I haven't had a good chance to experience/appreciate some of the great bands of the 60's, 70's, 80's and even 90's full properly. However, I'm gonna stick my neck out n suggest that The Coral are one of the greatest bands in the world, at the moment.

Made 4 proper albums (and one mini album) which are all have great depth and variety. The debut could be describe as one of the best debut albums in recent memory. More recently they're influencing bands like the arctic monkeys and the new shadow puppets record takes largely from the corals most recent album 'Roots and Echoes'. As well as being widely praised from people like Noel Gallagher.

Please say there are some fans on here. I know the majority of you have good taste!

*RH even gets a mention from them in clip above. Legends.

yep great band. The last album Roots & Echos is by far their best album and probably my favourite from last year. Their other records were pretty damn good too but that one is a stone cold 10/10 not a duff track on it. So safe to count me in as a fan and their are a couple of others knocking around here methinks.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Lee's guitar work on it is brilliant. 8)

always liked the coral, a bit under rated and seem to have been shunned by the indie darling critics of late, which i find interesting as the new LP by the last shadow puppets is VERY reminiscent of the coral.

i wonder if it would've got such good reviews if it had had the coral's name on it rather than alex turner's (not to take anything away from it, it's a good album)

I like The Coral, they are not played enough on the radio.

They have a nice website, with a few videos playing on the home page - http://www.thecoral.co.uk/

Yeh, the little media player is brillaint! But like most bands 'official' website, is hardly ever updated. And the forum is pretty poo except for a few regulars.

The strings on the track 'Rebecca You' on the new record are done beautifully and really complement the song. I just think some of the strings on the shadow puppets' tracks aren't used in such good way. That not to say I don't like the new record, i love it, but they're just not The Coral. :*:

Oh and 'Cobwebs' is quality, got abit of a 'Hawley' feel to it.

re Updating group websites - it's very, very difficult to come up with something new to add when a group aren't doing anything. But it is very frustrating for fans of a group when there is nothing happening.

Hugely underrated band, they are excellent musicians and James Skelley is a top rate sonwriter. I love them.
