On Sunday February 17th we're at West Street Live with a fine four act line up. Doors open at 7pm and entry is FREE!

Lomas

Born from the ashes of Ebb-Tone (http://www.myspace.com/ebbtone) and Gledhill (http://www.myspace.com/gledhillmusic), Lomas are set to make their mark on Sheffield where the good things that Ebb-Tone were leading to left off. Combing beautiful three part harmony vocals over a varied backdrop of music, and with a heavy focus on song writing and lyrics, expect every song to tell a story alomg with intricate arrangements to draw the listener in and keep them there. Difficult to pigeonhole this band, their indie roots are nicely augmented with country vibes.

The Listeners

The Listeners are an acoustic duo from the North of England. They have been together for two years having played on the same circuit for several years in different bands. Emma Thorpe provides the main voice, a velvet glove softening the punch, delivering her songs with, in turn, uncompromising invective and heart on sleeve insight. Robert Cook, as well as adding a dark baritone voice, brings his rootsy rock guitar credentials to The Listeners feast. The Listeners have won over audiences from many genres...surf punk, rock and folk music. The band have a growing reputation on the acoustic underground scene in the North of England and have been favourites of BBC radio presenters and University radio DJ's, having performed many live sessions. The duo have recently been working on a collection of songs 'Magnus Colorado' which has just gone to press. The project has been produced by Ewan Davies who has worked with many artists, from Arctic Monkeys to The Editors.

"Like P.J Harvey......pissed off, unplugged and wearing a kaftan!" Music Mart Magazine 2007

Ash Mountain

Manchester's Ash Mountain formed in early 2007. Brought together by a collective love of the likes of Calexico, Green On Red and Dusty Springfield's 'In Memphis' album they have a varied sound, ranging from 'Copperhead Road' era Steve Earle to comparisons with Gomez. Comprising female vocals, guitars, banjo, fiddle, bass and drums, don't expect to keep your feet still for too long.

Tommy R. Jones

Singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tommy R. Jones plays a range of music from rock to funk to grunge to blues to country to folk. His solo offerings focus on the piano and acoustic guitar, but you might also know him from playing bass and piano for alternative metal/rock band Machines, bass for blues/rock/country band 'Street Survivors', piano/guitar and vocals for 'Dave Woodcock & The Dead Comedians' and piano for 'Chris Murphy and Boxer Genius' to name just a few!

"Piano keys twinkle like a summer night sky throughout and the accompanying guitar sounds as though it has been gently coaxed into performing. Mr Jones' expertise in forging affecting, stripped back songs is plain to see and the passion by which these types of songs will live or die is also present" Sandman Magazine.

Ba-bump. This is on Sunday and it's going to be much aceness. Catch some history in the making as Lomas make their live debut and pick up where the fantabulous Ebb-Tone left off. As for the The Listeners they worth the trip out alone.
