I'd been wondering for a couple of days about who the bloke on Luke's new avatar was ... penny ... dropped ...

Snapper, great idea, love the photos and the concept. If you don't mind a few suggestions from a failed historian, for the really oldies, you could try sending a beautifully crafted letter to retirement homes and the like in the Sheffield area (try yellow pages or council services pages); check out community pages for clubs where the oldies get together, or look through local paper for any announcements of "Ethel gets her telegram"; local operatic societies, allotments, amateur dramatics ... and try contacting ex-services clubs too (quite fancy a photo of an 80 year old ex-sailor spruced up with his medals on).

Good luck .... and really glad that I'm outwith the Sheffield connection because I am a little ambiguous when it comes to age (unfortunately the years/maturity ratio is somewhat out of kilter)
