You can get it in quite a few places outside Sheffield, but I'm not sure how far in any direction. For example, you can buy bottles in the Hessle (near Hull) branch of the Co-op, and in a shop devoted to Yorkshire food products called The Yorkshire Pantry on High Petergate in York.

I've also seen it in delicatessen type shops further south, in Derbyshire, and further north in Whitby. But that tends to be the extent of my roamings. Can anyone else add further outlets?

Im in Rochester in Kent. I do go on holiday to Whitby every year though. I will have a look in the co op there. Surely they will have it. Its odd, i feel quite deprived.

I didn't look for Hendo's in the Whitby Co-op, but saw it in a lovely delicatessen on Church Street called The Shepherd's Purse. Well worth a visit even if you're not self-catering in Whitby, and very close to the Black Horse on the same street, for fans of real ale and a pleasant drinking environment.

We've stayed in Church Street. We spent a very rainy day in a pub along there, me, my brother, his 3 kids and my 2. Teaching them pontoon and other gambling games. Probably not the best parenting ive ever done, but a great day had by all. Made us very welcome.

Ive got a bottle! Very excited. Got some nasi goreng paste the other day and it reminded me that i havent tried hendersons yet. cost nearly a fiver, with postage. What should i try it on first? i thought cheese or egg on toast. So looking forward to it, im fightened of being disappointed now.

I've just run oot!

Hendo's to me is about subtlety - it's now when I cannot add it that I really notice it missing.

My favourite was when added to a mix of Mackerel [in brine drained and left for a bit] and Uncle Ben's Egg Fried Rice - all washed down with a few cans of cheapo lager.

Maybe a bit delinquent for 9.30 on a saturday morning, i draw the line at beer before breakfast (unless im on holiday) That does sound like the perfect sunday afternoon tea at a cricket match though. im leaning towards egg on toast for breakfast with a dash of the very pleasing colour label, hendersons. I dont feel i know it well enough to call it hendos yet. Joy! I text my youngest, she does saturday morning job in the local bakers. Bringing me home a freshly baked crusty bloomer. Just got to hold out now, til 11. The bottles glinting it the sunshine in the kitchen, tempting me. Is a little on the finger ok, or will it ruin it?

My word, its good. Not at all what i expected. i assumed it would be like the, other stuff that cant be mentioned. But no, much more subtle. A unique taste, cant say its like anything. Has anyone tried it as a flavouring for fahitas? Cook the meat in it? got them for tea tonight. What happens when you heat it? Ive done it with W******* sauce and honey, make meat taste like sticky barbeque
