Shefftopia - from Pete McKee on Facebook
We are all disappointed at the recent Arts Council decision not to grant Museums Sheffield £1.4m per year for the next three years.
We understand and agree the Government has let Sheffield down
and this is a devastating blow for the City.
In light of this Shefftopia has been created, the bringing together of local people to support art and culture in Sheffield. The plan is to protest against the Art’s Councils decision, a sit in picnic will be held on
Sunday 12 February at the Millennium Galleries in Sheffield from 12pm until 3pm. We are encouraging everyone who is unhappy with the recent funding decision to join us bring a picnic basket and a pen, as we will be holding a large drawing demonstration at the event.
What is Shefftopia?
Shefftopia is a non organisation set up by artist Pete McKee designed to bring artists together to promote their wares and communicate their message throughout the city and beyond. If people are unhappy, excited, or indifferent about an art or cultural related subject then Shefftopia is a forum for expressing their views.
Although created by Pete McKee no one owns Shefftopia, it’s a concept to protect what we stand for as a creative city and we encourage people to create their own Shefftopia and spread the word.
All support for this is greatly welcomed and anything you would like to add or object to please don't hesitate to ask.
