Not good news for Sheffield. The 80million labour pledged loan is to be axed. Probably no surprise for the people of this region, when has a Tory government done anything for this region anyway?

Did you really think he would defend 'his' city? It's interesting but not unsurprising to see where the cuts have been made - labour heartlands!
I do agree with you Richard - he is a bastard... I suspect he won't have the nerve to show his face round here in the near future- constituency or not!

I am deeply glad the boundaries changed and I am now in Sheffield Central. We still have a labour MP! sorry Richard, you're stuck with Cameron's puppydog ( but probably only until the next election!)

The new government is turning out just as we feared, then. Didn't take long did it :?

Jobs, hospitals, school rebuilds - we are just about to start ours - back to 1983 -Thatcher in the guise of the double take brothers and a group of sidekicks who are all face less and equally soul less. Have you also noticed all the cuts seem to be focused on the labour heartlands. The Conlib on Question time had the affront to say that Sheffield Brightside was a liberal marginal constituency! He's probably never been north of Watford.... next week will be so depressing...

I'm a bit young to remember the awfulness of the 80's as I was just a nipper but have been brought up to despise the toffy tory bastards.

It appears everything I have been told is true.

The speed of this is fightening. Privatisation, culling manufacturing initiatives, local schooling/health care projects, university funding, the gap between rich and poor is about to get wider. They've only been in about five minutes.

Absolute cunts.

I fail to understand why anyone can actually agree with what they are doing.

As for Clegg, the mans a weasel, a power mad turncoat.

The winter of discontent draws near - I fear we'll be on the streets fairly sharpish.

we've just had something similar happen here after the election.

I live in widnes (surprise) and work in Runcorn and every morning have to cross the widnes runcorn bridge, the lowest crossing point of the mersey.

With no traffic, it takes me 12 minutes to get from my computer at home to my computer at work. Yesterday it took me 2 hours.

Basically this bridge is a choke point for the North West, all heavy industry and commuter traffic for the region goes across it, its like sticking gravel down an egg timer.

Plans were well underway for 'mersey gateway' a new second bridge, which quite frankly is essential for the survival of this region. I've seen enough artist impressions of the new bridge to fill a gallery.

Within weeks of coming to power, this new government has scrapped the plans. not their fault they say, blame labour for the defcit etc..

This area could thrive, this bridge isn't some sort of whimsical expensive luxury, its a lifeline for generation and progress, now this area is quite literally being strangled as its workforce and output sits in traffic.

The local tory promise before they didn't get in, we will fight to get this bridge quicker than labour ever would.

Another example of fuck the North. Especially as very succinctly recognised there... the labour heartlands.
