Come on Nick elaborate!

Was it the massed ranks of corned beef thighs on show or the impromptu 12" carrot based pizzas dropped on the pavement that you found disgusting?

I can confirm I officially became an old man the other day when I did not fully hear what a mate at work was saying and thought about saying 'speak properly and don't mumble'

As for being a grumpy old bugger - rather than an official 'old man' - well I qualified for that years ago at the age of 43...

We were talking at work about the things we dont do anymore - like defrosting the inside of the car windscreen using anti freeze and a fag lighter on full blast whilst driving home from the pub - probably over the drink drive limit

It was the general atmosphere of false, over loud bonhomie with a really nasty menacing undercurrent. Drunk people lurching into you, gangs taking up the whole pavement so you can't get past, a sense that it wouldn't take much for it all to kick off.

Never felt so relieved to reach the sanctity of Trippett Lane.

Aye - when we were over in August for a Craig WW night we were walking along Trippett Lane back to the car [parked outside the Uni Hawley building] - and realised a war zone had erupted in one of the Streets that ran parallel to Trippetts - maybe that was West Street...

With you on that one Nick - I hate West Street, particularly on Fridays and Saturdays. Bypassing it en route to my bus stop after a decent evening at Fagans on Saturdays, it is just a nightmare and seems to get worse every week - fights, aggression, and sheer horribleness. It's been said before, but just what a different world it is compared with Trippett Lane or Broad Lane. I certainly know which I prefer

aye I witnessed a bit of it last night on way down to the Grapes. What also got me was the stuff people were wearing. Blokes out in just shirts, lasses in next to nothing and as you all know it was *freeeeezing*. :eh? Are they just trying to be hard or something?

I don't know about Sheffield, but I went out in my car around 4 yesterday morning and it -9 c. I can't imagine it being much different to Sheffield over here in Lancashire.

I've never understood why people dress that way in the middle of winter.

Maybe they think they look cool.
