Hello! I was hoping someone could answer this question - the first time I saw Richard Hawley was at Derby Assembly Room's Darwin Suite some time in 2007 or 2008.

Does anyone have the exact date? I can't find anything online.

(PS It's not the 2012 gig in the main Derby Assembly Rooms hall which I also went to.)

I've popped this question on to the Hawley Facebook page (the semi-official page) and hopefully someone will recall. I checked on here but search only goes back to when we moved the forum to an updated version.

Question from a Facebook member:

Was this upstairs and Richard stopped ‘streets’ mid song - went out for a smoke and returned and finished the song ? I think it was July ‘08

Someone who played on the night reckoned it was the night before the Royal Albert Hall appearance which was 20th May 2008 so looks to be the gig mentioned in the thread lined below

Yes, the Derby gig was definitely on the 19th May. I had booking for Mrs R. and myself but unfortunately had to cancel after learning, belatedly, that it would be all standing.

Yes! It was the second song and the sound wasn't right so they weren't off stage and had a smoke while it was fixed.

Brilliant, thanks everyone!

I did steal a poster of the show from the Assembly Rooms box office but no idea where it went.
