My second date of this tour, a properly tiny venue! Surely Mr. H is too big now to play places this size? The academy was packed from front to back, and for those of us lucky enough to be there, the lads were on top form. The standouts for me were Down in the woods - the sound was fantastic, with Mr H's voice up in the mix, and the guitar playing was incendiary, never wanted it to end. Dean doesn't seem to get mentioned often but I think he's a bit of an unsung hero in the live set, his drumming can sound huge or subtle, Down in the woods really puts him front and centre, it was hypnotic, really great. Don't stare at the sun and standing were also absolutely belting too. The sky's edge material seems to just get better with time. Galley Girl, just boss (think my partner was going to leave me for compulsively singing the chorus until she came to the last two shows, now she does it as well). The mix last night showed off Shez well too, his tone on Doors, no words, the absolute man. Some absolute guitar pornography on display too (I didn't realise the 6120 was from 1956!). Managed to bag Mr H's set list after the show, which was the icing on the cake. Not often I get to leave a gig with a souvenir tea towel either :D

Anyone who hasn't got a ticket for a date yet, just buy a pair, take a mate or your partner, and go and see the boys. If you're struggling for time, take the day off, get a baby sitter, whatever, you need to see this show. It's the best 30 quid you'll ever spend.
