Off to the qualifiers on Thursday, it's nearly time of year when Sheffield is home to some capable sportsmen for a fortnight...

I play off 3...

...per hole.

That joke landed me a job years ago.

Whereas nowadays my golf is the joke - haven't wrecked a golf course for 10 years - would come along to eat bacon butties and drink some beer tho'

Used to play twice a week, now I'm lucky if it's twice a year, but do love it.........so yes, I'd be up for a
bacon butty, beer and launching a few divots further than the ball!

As for The Masters.......one of the very best sporting events of the year!

I have the beers ready for Sunday night and my flight to the office in Holland on Monday doesn't
leave until 13:35, so if it's play off holes and a late one.....bring it on! <*>

I have a story about the flowers at Augusta but I'll save it for The 19th!

Snooker was top value for a fiver.

Not played golf for years, though i do like it. Never been fussed about watching it. My handicap is probably about the same as PD's age. In dog years.

Per hole?

Craig you are a big bogey x

Sadly I had a fit of pique this evening - The Masters is on Sky Sports 1 - for fucks sake.

It's time to concentrate on getting a top 15 finish in the Hawley FFL or start reading books without pictures.

Snooker? Golf? Let's not. I'll make a hasty retreat from this thread. Sorry for butting in. Back to the football I think.

Must admit to liking snooker – come from a family where the best sports are ones you can play with a drink in your hand. My parents ran a working men's club and a pubs darts league – all my childhood spent sitting on pub steps, with a bottle of Golden Lemonade and a packet of crisps, as my folks delivered the fixture lists.

So, the snooker event is a big one for my folks. Craig, did you see this?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/22007129

Has a great second paragraph... "Aaah, when snooker was a gentleman's game. The golden age, when players would nut officials and threaten to kill fellow pros (Alex Higgins), snort cocaine (Cliff Thorburn, Kirk Stevens ) fix matches (Peter Francisco), drink 24 pints before a match (Bill Werbeniuk) and sell "sordid" sex tales to tabloids (Tony Knowles). No wonder Steve Davis used to win everything."

My mum LOVES Ronnie O – spends the whole of his matches shouting at the TV. Bought them tickets for the Crucible one year but they didn't like it because they couldn't shout "Piss off" really loud to the referees. Phoned her to say hi last night but she just told me to go away as the snooker was on...

Golf, on the other hand, is just shit...x

Like everything it's all becoming all about the £££££. Always thought Barry Hearn was a bit of a knob.

It is indeed near me, I could walk and I think you can see my house from one of the pictures in the
link! Never played there, but enquired some years ago and got the look like I was something on the
bottom of their shoe (I think it may have been the Sex Pistols T Shirt! :D ), but since then they've
erected electric gates to keep the plebs out! I don't think playing off 96 and hacking lumps
out of their pristine greens and fairways will go down too well!

Played mostly North Yorkshire and a couple in Rotherham. Twilight would be good for me............
Barnsley? Sheffield? Wakefield?
