Was eleven when he died and had been constantly playing my Dad's 78s for a couple of years already so his death was a big thing for me. Still a massive presence for me https://youtu.be/fDjY2VcLq7o |

I had just turned ten. Worst day of my life up to that point, I was heartbroken. I grew up with the man and his music as my dad was a big fan, I still have the scrapbook I made with my dad of press cuttings and articles at the time of Elvis' death. Went to London Zoo the day I was told, my first trip to London and the only thing I remember about the whole trip are the newspaper boards everywhere with that awful headline. Apparently I apent the whole day in tears and my aunt has never let me forget it May his legacy live on for many many years, he was/is just the greatest and that voice will never be surpassed |
