Yes very sad news. Rod wrote (and performed) some beautiful songs - my favourite has always been 'Jean'. Would post a link but haven't yet worked out how to post a YouTube link from my IPad!

You'd have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by that. Yes, you could say it is of its time and sentimental, but Mckuen struck me as one who sung and wrote from the heart, simply and honestly without an ounce of affectation. He was a humble soul.
