My tickets and hotel cost less than the Manchester Apollo show.
Glad I held out!
A back to basics festival with none of the bullshit (apparently)

I'll be there enjoying a few birthday drinks! Would be great to see you there.

Pleased to see Vince Power talking about counteracting a brand-saturated music scene. He's involved with Benicassim - how does that compare to the massively hyped British Festivals?

It was a looooong night. Especially for us smokers. Pegi was on about 7.30. Apparently she was great, but I opted for getting as much alcohol and nicotine into my system before being locked in the Apollo. Neil did an acoustic set that was between 45 and 60 mins(I'm no clock watcher. Then after 30 minutes of not being served at the bar (me not Neil) He came back and rocked for yonks. We got out at 11.40 and I heard it was even later on the 2nd night. We certainly got our money's worth . Curfew Shmerfew.

He did the same in Hammersmith a couple of weeks before - an amazing second set. I didn't think he was ever going to finish Cinnamon Girl! Wasn't too sure about the paintings though.

Definitely better than the last time I saw him, standing outside in the rain in the Fleadh Festival for 9 hours back in 2001. Still, I do remember one opening act being pretty good.

I loved the Fleadh gig - "Like a Hurricane" in abysmal weather (did I imagine thunder and lightning?) and mud up to my ankles.

and earlier in the day saw Teenage Fanclub play Neil Yung in one of the support tents! A great day out despite the weather.
