Oh man. If it weren't for having kids I reckon I'd now be saving for a wee city break to San Sebastian. What a place. Few days there with a Nick Cave gig thrown in for good measure would be some holiday. Come back about a stone heavier tho', - tapas heaven.

This is my approach to gigs nowadays - book a holiday around the gig - first up being Galway 14th February 'Valentines Night' - if I don't make the show I'll probably be gawpin' at a TV in a bar in Tuam choking on a bag of prawn cocktail flavoured crisps nursing a pint of creme de menthe...

Ohhhhh I hope they come to the States soon! I was lucky enough to see one of only two dates Grinderman did in the States last year (One in Chicago, 2 shows here in San Francisco) and it was epic. They played at this fabulously tiny and gorgeous venue here (Great American Music Hall - and a PERFECT place for Richard to play next time he comes here!).....

Oddly without knowing this I wandered into HMV on the way back to St Pancras 20 mins ago to buy his new LP and discovered this was happening. No wristband but can still watch the set so am waiting for him to appear any minute. Result!

Excellent. All the better for being unexpected. They played 8 songs off the new album and the latest b-side (which is a bit b-sidey tbh). First time I'd heard most of the album songs (not surprising since my copy is in a carrier in front of me on the train) all will be amazing properly blasted in real concert - there's 2 or 3 real Velvet Underground jobs that'll be especially good. Get that ticket Luke...
