Didn't really have an interest in what they looked like at the time, I remember the drummer looked like a hard bastard, and Foxton had a pokey face. But they were f*cking shit hot as a band.

I too tried and failed to get into anything Mr weller did afterwards.

try again and start with wild wood :D

I'm on your side, I listen to all kinds of stuff that other people wouldn't shake a shitty stick at on here.

But I just don't like his music.

WOOOOOAAAAHHHH!!!!!

He's a good songwriter, decent guitarist, has an OK voice, and was in a superb band - which, let's not forget, was a BAND, and Foxton & Buckler added a lot to it.

But that "G" word gets bandied about far too easily, fer fuck's sake, and, given the length of his career since The Jam, he's produced precious few songs which will endure & act as a reference point for future generations. Very little at all since Stanley Road.

Good artist, but not a genius.

well i agree with you that the jam were a band and weller was out of order for how he treated them afterwards etc etc.

but i think hes up there as one of the best songwriters this country's produced but this is my opinion and everyones entitled to their own, of course. its all very personal, as music often is.

:D
