I saw Maximo Park last night having not really bothered checking them out before. They were absolutely *blinding*, great tunes (Graffiti is the best indie tune I've heard in a long long time) and they have a frontman who'd give all the greats a run for their money..

Next up, Reverend & The Makers in Pontefract tonight, one of Sheffield's finest.

But the biggie, one I've been looking forward to for ages, is the mighty Public Enemy this Sunday. I'm giddy as a kipper already.

Great picture!

Out of interest, is this "work" or were you there as a punter?

Glad to hear that about Maximo Park. Don't know a lot about them but they are supporting New Order when I go to see them at the end of this month.

PS: Seeing the mighty Public Enemy myself on Monday at The Junction, Cambridge

Cheers, he was a nightmare to photograph actually, as well as the hat shielding his eyes all the time he was the human equivalent of one of those 'super balls' you had as a kid. And he kept it up for the whole of the show, so to speak. It was 'work' yes but it's hard justifying what I do as such.. :)

Saw Public Enemy Monday night in Cambridge....absolutely superb, at least the beginning and the end were...there was a half hour bit in the middle were Flava Flav insisted on playing a drum solo (badly) and then playing "snippets" from his forthcoming solo album, which was just ok. But when the mighty PE returned to the stage all was forgiven 8)

Next Gig....."New Order" at Wembley Arena in a couple of weeks, also going to the new West End production of "Cabaret" which I'm looking forward to and a new production of "Metamorphosis" at the Hammersmith Lyric with a score by Nick Cave. October is a good (but expensive) month.

:)

I thought they were incredible, best gig I've seen in a long long time, though yes, Flavour Flav's drum solo  Oh dear. I'd post a pic but I run the risk of turning this thread into my ego gallery so I won't. They'll be on me site soon.

The guy I went with recorded the whole gig, he's dropping the CD's off this weekend. If you want copies PM me (there was a lot of feedback during some of the early songs which spoil things slightly, and caused Chuck D. to do a bit of freeforming about how PE hate feedback!!). Let me know the URL of your website so I can check out the pics...

Man, I'd love to see the silver jews, hear nothing but good things about 'em.

Saw Micah last week, he was ace.

Yeah, have heard good things about the Jews' live show. That one's just before New Year's. I've been meaning to see Micah for a while and never been to Maxwell's, so this should be quite interesting. Also working on lining up an interview with him that looks like it will happen - once he gets back to the States.

I've seen Micah here in glasgow six times, gets better every time too... Very unlike the albums, last time he had a lap steel/bass player, drummer and harmonica player so not the big orchestrated sound of the records, very much him and a guitar and very stripped back versions of the songs. Great though, enjoy. Maxwell's? What town you in?

Last night: Mark Eitzel - playing solo to an audience of maybe 30 attentively listening people. What a strange and twisted guy. :D
It was a bit too much belcanto for my taste, but nevertheless great. His acoustic cover of Joy Division's "Heart And Soul" gave me goose-pimples.

Next: Camera Obscura on friday. Yippie! :D

Mark Eitzel - isn't that the singer of American Music Club? I would love to hear them live sometime. And just 30 people in the audience, sounds great.

Next gig for me: Travis!
