I think they're great. I wouldn't put them at either end of the scale in the poll, though. I would say it's a bit early to tell if they're overrated, I think that's the sort of thing you can only really comment on with the benefit of hindsight. 'Give 'em a three album headstart before we knock 'em down', that's my motto. They could well turn out to be their generation's Beatles or Clash, based on the reaction they're getting from the kids.

One thing I've noticed in my household: eight-week-old girls *love* them. Especially the one about the dancefloor. But not too loud. Then they cry.

Grumpy c*** #2 says......

oh yeah, it's excellent that sheffield is back in the eye again, AM and yourself are reminding people that the sleeping giant is awakening (this sounds like a tap song), and if you believe all that you here 2006 is supposed to be the year of sheffield music, it is good to see a local band doing it, like i said on another website, when i was 15/16 and listening to oasis and stone roses i thought manchester was the most important place in the world (i'm from rotherham you know!) so if kids are checking out other bands from the local scen then thats great.

i'm not one for riding on some elses coat tails, but, you couldn't just hand me those coat tail riding boots could you old chap.........

what im unsure about is all this stuff im reading about the frontman being some kind of groundbreaking 'poet' - i admit ive only heard a couple of their songs and apart from one or two lines i just dont see it.

a couple of well-turned phrases does not a poet make.

but then, what do i know?

anyway, like i said - good on 'em and i hope they deal with the success well and it continues for em/

i saw em at the boardwalk back in2003 when they were supporting a mate of mine. didnt stand out for me back then - but im chuffed for em.

Sorry, but they may well be The Clash for their generation. Us old gits, and I include anybody over 25 in that, are in no position to judge.

I was 16 when The Clash emerged, & saw it all through the eyes of a teenager. Jesus, it was exciting!!!

Having seen the Arctic Monkeys live & heard most of their songs, seen audience reaction to them etc I think they could well end up bigger than The Clash. And bloody good luck to them!!!! But, by & large, they will predominantly appeal to a generation that most of us are not a part of.

I like 'em. Will be getting the album on the strength of what I've heard.

Any band that keep manufactured pop of the top of the charts is alright by me, plus they're from Sheffield, and when I heard Mardy BUm for the first time early last year, before all the hype, I thought it was like nothing I'd heard before...now everyone is singing in a think northern accent.
