Went to Glasgow on Friday night to see The Crookes at King Tut's and was pleasantly surprised by High Hazels, a Sheffield band from Handsworth. The guitarist is definitely inspired by Hawley, both in terms of guitar choice (Gretsch) and playing style. Had a chat with them after the gig, and it turns out their manager is Stan who was in The Seaside (90s Sheffield band who I saw on many occasions). It's amazing what a small world it is. I've bought both singles and I would describe them as similar to Treebound Story, The Smiths and The Crookes. Well worth checking them out. |

Sad to hear today that the group have decided their Leadmill gig on the 21st September will be their last for the foreseeable future. |
