The Rails were getting a few mentions in the 'Most Recent/Next gig' thread, so, continuing my theme of basing all my booking decisions on the whims of this forum, I have booked them to play in Manchester. For those that don't know, The Rails are guitar hero, James Walbourne and his wife, Kami Thompson (daughter of Richard Thompson).

The all-important date is Wednesday 30th April and the Facebook event is here, for those who like those kind of these.

Use your powers and get them play Davenham in July - the day before they support Paul weller at Delamere Forest - it's all of 8 mile away - there's a sausage roll in it for yer  8)

Bird To Beast have been added as support for this one, so those who were 'too tired' to make it to The Hosts' show have another chance

This one is tonight...

£8 on the door, unless you're over 65 and turn up with both grandparents.

Was a great night - but surprisingly it was Bird to beast 'Winter Snow' that passed the Old Grey Whistle Test the next day..

One of the most persistent comments since the gig has been that Bird to Beast stole the show. They were (and are) magnificent, but I do feel for The Rails a bit, due to their having no soundcheck and it taking three songs to get the levels right.

They actually apologised to me afterwards for not being at their best, which, as Clive suggests, was far from necessary. Hopefully, I will get to put them on again in the autumn...

The Rails were the show for me - I want to see them at their worst

Have posted elsewhere how I have a leaning toward quieter tunes - I think it's an age thing - but there's nothing better than getting a bit lost during a full on cranked up session - there were times the other night when I'm sure I was taking it in with gob wide open...

[Hmm that doesn't sound right...]
