Doors open 8pm.

***BIG CONVOY***

From the ashes of ‘Mat Wale & The Rackets’ and ‘Whiskey Cove’ comes Big Convoy, an Alt. Country band five years in the making. Comprised of singer/ songwriters John Bachelor and Mat Wale and an all-star rhythm section courtesy of Thom ‘T-Bone’ Gill and Toby Evans.

If you would have walked into ‘The Green Room’ anytime in 2007, you could have found any number of these people playing songs and partying harder than any jobbing unsigned musicians had a right to. In 2012, with a lot of water under the bridge and whole lot of other stuff too, they finally come good on promises made and are in a band together, a year that also saw them release their self titled debut EP which was followed up with 2013′s “Life Is Easy When You Know How”.

***CANYON FAMILY***

Born in 2012 and making their live debut at that summer’s Tramlines festival, Canyon Family play hazy Americana. Myrt sings. A love of classic country duets and folk ballads from both sides of the Atlantic has influenced the sound. A patchwork of voices and simply plucked acoustic guitar underpins all their work, hinting at sixties folk waifs, Vashti Bunyan and Karen Dalton, as well as tragic country idols such as Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons. It’s the shuffle beat, the lilt in the voice, the glint in the eye. Its driving over the Snake Pass on a warm summer evening, with a well worn tape of “Rumours” on constant rotation.

The music is ethereal and one tambourine short of Mazzy Star‘s long lost sister.” Sloucher.org

***DIRDSBEAD***

A relatively new face to Sheffield, Dirdsbead takes inspiration from the likes of Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch plus some more contemporary artists such as Elvis Perkins, Josh T. Pearson and Sharon Van Etten. Having previously played in bands, this new project brings his own personal take on all things music and life and has already resulted in the release of his debut EP.
