Last four gigs.
Rudimental at Brixton, 1 hour 30 mins(very good).
Paul weller, 1 hour 35 mins Hammersmith (worst I've ever heard him).
Jake Bugg, 1 hour 20 mins Brixton (very good).
What happened to on at 9, blast 'till 10.30'sh, off for a fag/drink or whatever back for another 30 mins?

Last night in London Billy Bragg ..> ........2 hours 25 mins. At last.......some decent time spent on stage. That's more like it :Hoorah ...............Or is it me?

I'm happy with a footie type gig - 90 mins - little break then a 15 minute penalty shoot out.

Billy is great live, saw him last Thursday. Loads of chat, very funny and warm, great songs. He was in stage from 8:30 til nearly 11 and it flew over.

Billy is great on-stage company, intelligent and funny and as H says, has a great band. And I think he's getting better as he gets older. Tooth and Nail is a great album and the album before it, Mr Love & Justice, is beautiful. He plays with Robert Wyatt on the opening track, I Keep Faith, and it's just lovely.

I always think of him as a soul singer – obviously he doesn't have the voice of Marvin or Otis but he has the soul of a soul singer, if that doesn't sound too up its own arse.

My all time favourite is Saturday Boy which, as a teenager, I always thought could've been written about me, although I am obviously not a boy. Contains what could arguably be one of the best lines from a British songwriter (discuss??):
She danced with me and I still hold that memory
Soft and sweet
And I stare up at her window
As I walk down her street
But I never made the first team,
I just made the first team laugh
And she never came to the phone
She was always in the bath

Genius. x

Oh the heartbreak of the Saturday Boy.....

'In the end it took me a dictionary to find out the meaning of 'unrequited'
While she was giving herself for free at a party to which I was never invited'

I was there too Maggie, well worth the money, the 'Byrds' cover was top draw, 'Between The Wars' always hits the spot ...

This is one Billy Bragg gig I wished I'd seen (sorry, I can't do the You Tube paste either). Got tickets for Hammersmith Apollo though.
