House of Cards Presents are delighted to welcome The Rockingbirds back to Manchester this coming Friday (29th).

Few follow-ups have been as long-awaited as The Rockingbird's The Return Of The Rockingbirds - 17 years. It certainly seems that the album has lived up to all great expectations set by its predecessors.

"They've never sounded better" ★★★★ - Mojo

The Rockingbirds

The short version of The Rockingbirds saga is that they released two acclaimed albums, but effectively burned out due to an over-enthusiastic lifestyle and imploded.

However, when their label, Heavenly Recordings, threw an 18th birthday festival in London in 2008, The Rockingbirds arose phoenix-like to play the Southbank on, September 13th.

Now they have signed to the magnificent Loose records, their new album 'The Return of the Rockingbirds' will be released on Monday 25th February.

The Rockingbirds are: Patrick Arbuthnot (pedal steel), Andrew Hackett (guitar, backing vocals), Dave Morgan (drums), Mark Duncan (bass), Sean Read (keyboards, horns, backing vocals) & Alan Tyler (acoustic guitar, vocals).

Tickets are £8 in advance from here or here

Support on the night comes from Jim Adama and Mog Stanley.

Will do - I'll be the skinhead with camera in bag/hand and will have librarian/old school mate/gig promoter in tow.

Me and the other Denise (the lady Woodcock) saw the Rockingbirds at the Southbank when they did the Heavenly anniversary gig (can't believe it's so long ago!) and they absolutely rocked it that night. Not surprised they decided to give it another go .... very highly recommended :Hoorah

Me too. Saw them a couple of years ago supporting Caitlin Rose and they were great. Their guitarist also backed Edwyn Collins at Truck same year.

Some good bands at The Bully this year.

Just back from seeing the Rockingbirds at the Bullingdon Arms in Oxford, and a very good show they put on. £8 very well spent.
