Well Mont, I'm with your Dad and The Craig (I also fancy your mum!).....but I'll stir up a bit of controversy by saying I preferred 'Fine Young Cannibals' version of Suspicious Minds to Elvis!!!!

A man after my own heart...course I prefer the version with Marc Almond as well (the only time either man had a, solo, number 1 record, for you 'pop trivia' fans out there)

Dave - I too love the 'Fine Young Cannibals' version, I really liked that band, thought saw some travesty of them performing a few months ago (no original members, except Roland Gift, to my knowledge) they were awaful, just going through the motion...but the audience, god it was scary...lots of middle aged woman (yes, I know I'm 42 but we're talking older!!) screaming at Gift...I wanted to leave, if I hadn't been sitting at the front! :*:

I'm afraid I'm going to have to join the Pitney crowd.

As much as I like Suspicious Minds (especially the live version from That's The Way It Is), Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart just has a certain... spine-tingling quality to it.

In my opinion.

i was gonna say the same thing. i think they did a great version of that song! what a voice Roland Gift had.

i didn't always like the production on their records but i wish FYC's would have made a few more records. would have been nice to see what they would've done with a more natural sound.

seem to remember hearing that Gift put out a solo album a few years back. anybody here ever hear it?

I have Roland Gift's solo album, it's very mellow, but enjoyable...still has the voice but I guess ut didn't sell or he wouldn't be back touring as 'Fine Young Cannibals' on his own, pity.
