Yeah I know, but why spoil a good story! :)

Top drumming as well Mr. B. One thing I did notice was the variety of drum sounds on this album, earning your keep which is good to see :)

It's a very well decorated venue. Would be a good place for the boss to play.

Interesting review in the Telegraph. Seems to be suggesting that getting TC to do songs by younger, hipper artists is somehow patronising.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=&xml=/arts/2008/11/20/bmchristie120.xml

Classic quote from Derek (65, ex-gas fitter)

"They're using him, these nobodies. They're using him to get their songs out."

I expect Tony would prefer to be still stuck on the chicken-in-a-basket Butlin's circuit trotting out his "signature hit"

hmm yes, Rick Rubin produced Johnny Cash & did songs by Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails etc. I thought that was *very* patronising too..

Derek was " Lost in the disorientatingly trendy, young crowd" - hmm, wasn't sitting anywhere near us then.

"And he's seen Northern crooner Tony Christie (also 65) six times before." - well about time Tony surprised him with something new - artists can't win can they, stay the same and be criticised, change and be criticised.

Shame the older fans are feeling that way, but I bet there's a lot of them who are loving the new stuff.

Damn right - Ian Hunter [70] will be touring next year [hopefully] - some of the fans will want the hear the Mott the Hoople hit[s] - others will want the newer stuff - indeed stuff they have not heard before - because they love the guy and are patrons to his creativity...

Ultimately you've got to do what you want to do and sod the fans...

A 'big up' (as I believe the young folk are fond of saying) to John Trier who opened proceedings at the show with some wicked accordian playing. Although he always reminds me of a slightly bored geography teacher, his piano playing on the night was great. Particularly on 'Louise', lovely stuff.

And what about young Colin on the xylophone eh? :)
