Magic. Just magic. Quite possibly gig of the year and then some.
You're not wrong there, fella. I've seen Garron a few times, but this was the tops. Sadly he often plays places where people prefer the vitally important sound of their own voices to listening properly to beautifully performed, original Americana-influenced songs. It was great to be at The Grapes in an audience that let the songs shine through.
As for STFU....they were blindingly good. I'd seen them last January supporting Uncle Earl and thought that they were pretty good, but blown away by the g'Earls that night.
Last night, to me, they seemed to be an altogether more potent live unit - doing that all-acoustic thing, with fiddle, mandolin, banjo, stand-up bass plus vocal harmonies that get you right in the gut and tug at the heartstrings.
It was a bit disconcerting at first when they struck up, playing on the floor, rather than the stage, but a couple of songs in started to seem to like the perfect choice. It was a fantastic vibe!
They're going to have to go some next Sunday to top that
