We've a fine trio of acts coming to The Grapes on Sunday August 17th. Our old friend Richard Kitson returns with his band Also Jack, along with travelling US singer/songwriter Jon Crocker and the show's opened by Killing Fields Of Ontario. Doors open at 8pm and entry is just £3.

***ALSO JACK***

The South Yorkshire three piece may be little known at present within the UK music scene but on their home turf they are regarded as a musical tour de force showcasing three musicians of equally exceptional musical ability. Much like Cream in the mid sixties Also Jack pride themselves on being musicians dedicated to their craft and are not concerned with adhering to the fashionable trends of todays Indie market.

With a combined playing experience of forty years Also Jack are purveyors of the power trio format. Their songs are riff based and oriented around the blues much like the White Stripes or even the Kings of Leon. Lead man and sonwriter Richard Kitson cites some of the greatest blues masters such as Robert Johnson, Muddy waters, BB King, Big Bill Broonzy et al and more modern blues players such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green and Rory Gallagher as major influences.

Despite being influenced by some of the oldest icons of popular music Also Jack remain fresh and modern. Indeed it is these influences that give them the freedom to manoeuvre between genres so easily.

The band are currently working on their debut album which should be available soon.

***JON CROCKER***

Jon Crocker is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter from the USA who writes, produces and records all his own material. It's the kind of self sufficiency that is drawn from his experiences as an expedition leader, who counts map making, free climbing and tae kwon do among his many skills. His wide ranging travels and touring give a broad background for his songwriting and storytelling, his recordings having won him numerous awards from the website garageband.com.

***KILLING FIELDS OF ONTARIO***

Folk rockers Killing Fields Of Ontario have been together around 6 months. In that short time they've performed numerous times around South and West Yorkshire and are rapidly winning themselves fans with their modern take on rootsy Alt-Country. Check out their MySpace page where you can view several live perfomances:
