In the abscence of Matthew Ryan, a hastily thrown together bill this coming Thursday at The Grapes....

We're at The Grapes this coming Thursday June 26th for a one off show featuring a fine 3 act line up for your listening pleasure. Doors open at 8pm and entry is £3.

***THE SICKNOTES***

The Sicknotes were formed in December 2007 when singer-songwriter Matt Richardson asked old friends Mel MacCallaugh and Guy Whittaker to play on his songs. Ten days later they played their first gig together at The Washington and have gone on to play numerous gigs around Sheffield. They are resident band at The Green Room on the first tuesday of every month, where they play along with guest bands they've invited. They are currently in the process of finishing a demo which they recorded with local producer Nort as they look to start gigging further afield.

Their melodic pop tunes bring to mind bands such as Eels, similarly masking an underlying sense of hopelessness.

***DAVE SLENEY***

Fresh from opening for US singer/songwriter Rachel Harrington at The Grapes last week, Dave Sleney makes a swift return for a full set. As well as the country tinged indie pop sounds of his former band, Dave is currently performing a glut of heartfelt new material in the downbeat singer/songwriter tradition. You can hear an early recording of one of those new songs at our MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/wagonwheelmediapromotion

***HAMNETT***

Singer, songwriter, poet and even one time actor Nick Hamnett performs as simply 'Hamnett'. His songs draw on a wide range of influences including country and folk tunes in the traditions of the likes of Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark. There are also elements bearing comparison to songwriters such as Nick Lowe.

One of the benefits of putting on riders is getting to enjoy the leftovers. Those grey ones are particularly chewy for some reason. :eh?

Those blue eyes are particulary tasty when skewered out on cocktail stick and lightly bronzed over a candle.

The little leg bones make great tooth picks when you're done too.

The little blonde ones at the front have also done me a lovely pair of ear muffs for the winter. :D

I've managed to re-string my tennis racket with the leftovers.

They're ginger not blonde :CAT ... and they'd scratch your ears off if you tried using them as muffs.

Ignore them Cats - they're just trying to get a rise out of us - and then they'll moan that the thread has gone off topic and down hill and that.................

Back on topic then.

  ... Dave, I note that Craig has moved you up the bill this time and given you an extended slot. Would you care to share with your adoring public any new songs you'll be adding to your repertoire?

.... is that on topic enough?
