Regret that this, my first post, is a minor gripe.

Responded to the great news of Richard appearing at Derby Assembly rooms on 19th May by immediately making phone bookings for seats for my wife and myself. Only when collecting the tickets last Monday did the box office inform me that it would be a standing only concert. As my good lady and I are both in the older bracket of Hawley appreciators, and my wife would not be able to stand through the concert, with great disapointment I had to cancel the booking. Fortunately, the AR box office accepted I had been misled when making the telephone booking and issued a full refund.

That part of the story aside, my concern is that, recalling forum postings re. the recent DeMontfort Hall (fully seated) concert, Richard's team's preference may increasingly be for standing audiences. Hopefully, this is not the case and future RH concerts in our locality can still include a proportion of seating (from which we would have no problem expressing our enthusiasm for Richard and his music).

Having said the foregoing, of course, appreciation of Richard's - and all the 'Lads' - musical abilities continues undiminished!

its a shame that seating couldnt be offered given the circs but i expect venues have all sorts of regulations and stuff

i have to say, personally, (as i am lucky enough to have the choice still) i much prefer to stand as i feel 'detatched' if i cant although i must admit that it was great to be seated right at the front at the last bridgewater hall gig :D

welcome to the forum btw!

I like both seated and standing, sometimes it is nice to just sit and listen and not have to worry about people walking into you and jostling for that half inch of space at the front.

But standing, right at the front and feeling the vibe is good as well.

Hi Robbo firstly welcome to the forum

its a nightmare for my agent and manager to try and find the right venue's to suit everyone, the problem is that folks who like what i do vary so widely in age group that the venue's that would provide everyone's needs are few and far between, for example we played a gig on one of the tours that catered for both seating and standing in Bristol...........it was half empty and it was a good night but it wasn't as good as one or the other, although i'll tell you what....i wouldn't mind a sit down some nights

I've never been to a seated gig - Perth will be the first. But I like standing ones because I'm really small so even if I do have a bit of a battle to get to the front, nobody really minds once I'm there...

Of course I do! And why shouldn't I? :D C'mon, no big burly guys are going to really object to the little girl squeezing through the crowd... I really am tiny, honest. Fifteen and the height of the average twelve-year-old...

And you get to the front and there's a tall girl like me in your way. 8)
