April’s edition of The Wagon’s Wheels sees us welcome back the not to be kept long Tiny Little Secrets and former Hurrah! man Paul Handyside, plus we say hello to rising star Andrea Glass. Doors open 8pm and entry is £3.

Tiny Little Secrets

Tiny Little Secrets have been kept for too long now, music like this simply must be shared. Adam, Hayley and Dave write and perform music from sublime folky trips to intense and powerful soul and jazzy journeys. Their motivating factor is simple; make music that excites and pleases them, in the hope that it will transcend genres and arrive with likeminded listeners.

Tiny Little Secrets have been whispering and wailing their hearts out at Ferry Farm where they have been working with producer and percussionist Keith Angel on their debut album (forthcoming on Wavelength Records). They decided to put together a full band to do the recordings justice. After borrowing Lockey and Keith from stable mates Hotel Brown for a short while, TLS decided they needed their own Bassist and Drummer. Their rigorous vetting process lead them to recruit Craig Gent on Bass and Tim Brain on Drums.

Fed by the band’s passion for good music; folk, jazz, blues and music with integrity, they’re now concentrating on live dates as they look to promote the new record.

Andrea Glass

Bolton’s Andrea Glass stunning debut album has been causing quite a stir. After being discovered by American Country star Kevin Montgomery (whom she supported on his recent UK tour), Andrea was whisked to Nashville in July 2007 where she recorded ’Stood Under Stars’ with a host of fine musicians, including Montgomery himself and renowned pedal steel player Al Perkins. Radio 2’s Bob Harris recently picked up on the record, and has been regularly featuring tracks on his show for the last couple of months. Andrea describes her influences as ’cowboy boots, flocked wallpaper, tea, notebooks, everything about autumn, all things coastal, trains, long journeys and maps’ and her finely crafted songs cast the impression of a life spent on the road. Catch up with her while you can.

"To arrive on the scene from nowhere and produce an album of quality material like this is quite extraordinary, this girl really is a name to look out for." Maverick

"It’s rare to find a new name emerging so fully formed." Netrhythms

"a wonderful album" Bob Harris BBC Radio 2

Paul Handyside

Singer/songwrighter Paul Handyside was founder member of eighties indie group HURRAH! who had several releases on Arista and Kitchenware records. Paul then went on to tour and record with fellow Kitchenware label-mate Martin Stephenson. In 2001 he formed Bronze and released two albums "The statue in the stone " and "A common prayer" blending west coast harmonies with the energy of The Who. Now solo, Paul’s songwriting is a mixture of Americana, pop, gospel, folk and 19th century hymns.

Paul has covered "Bachelor kisses" for the tribute album "Love goes on anyway", to celebrate the songwriting talent of the late Grant McLennan from the GoBetweens. More recently he completed new album "Future’s Dream" with producer and regular live sideman Rob Tickell. The record is available now on Malady Music.

"A mighty fine album" Americana-Uk.com

"With the ’sensitive’ troubadour market already swamped and threatening to dull our senses forever, Handyside’s less obvious take is an absolute pleasure" ’Planet Sound’ Channel 4 Teletext

"... an inspiring listen... an accomplished singer-songwriter plying his trade superbly well" Maverick
