I think people dis Katie because she's very pretty and therefore easy to market but she writes some great songs and has a warmth about her voice and production that compliments the romantic themes very well. Some artists don't get much appreciation whilst they are mainstream but get it later on when the heat of the media cools.

I'm not dissing her because she's pretty - just that I think she's pretty bloody awful. And has the considerable financial backing and push of Mike B(tw)att, on the grounds that he writes and produces virtually everything.

She's a pretty puppet for a womble.:*:

Just my opinion though.

Ah well, we all have different tastes. I just think her looks and the backing she has from Mr Batt don't do her any favours in many peoples eyes it's like an obstacle to people hearing what she does really well.

LukeM just had a listen and look on your Myspace nice sounds. we share quite a few similar influences. My music is a lot more rough edged though these days some might say badly played and sung but if the Velvets can do it......

hey, thanks for listening my friend - i shall check you out immediately.

and as regards katie melua she is breaking free from Mike Batt and wanting to do everything on her own now.

to me, she is a nice person. And nice people are a rarity these days, i should know.

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.
