Right lovely friends. Need to do a Christmas playlist for a get together on Saturday. I need suggestions for non-cheesy Christmas songs and I've got this so far:

Have yourself a merry little Christmas – Sam Smith (well, there will be teenagers there and at least they've heard of him)
Shake Hands with Santa Claus – Louis Prima
Winter Wonderland – Ella Fitzgerald
Santa Claus is coming to town – the Crystals
Merry Christmas baby – Otis Redding
I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus – The Ronnettes
Gee Whiz, It's Christmas – Carla Thomas
Baby, It's Cold Outside – Dean Martin
What Christmas Means to me – Stevie Wonder
Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me – Elvis
Blue Christmas – Elvis
Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms
White Winter Hymnal – Fleet Foxes
It's the most wonderful time of the year – Andy Williams
The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole
Run Rodolph Run – Chuck Berry
Frosty the Snowman – the Ronnettes
Little Saint Nick – the Beach Boys
Santa Baby – Eartha Kitt
Rocking around the Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
Merry Christmas, I don't want to fight – the Ramones
Christmas – Darlene Love
Winter wonderland – Darlene Love
Sleigh Ride – the Ronnettes
Christmas Wrapping – the Waitresses
Fairytale of New York – Pogues and Kirsty.

I would've done you H, on the Silent Night thing, but you haven't recorded it so I can't. And don't suggest Mud or Shakin' Stevens. Or Wham.

Any more suggestions? Nothing maudlin that will make me cry or get me on the gin because that won't be pretty. Nothing rude cos I have to think of the children. And nothing that is too religious (although I don't mind taking it to the church in an Aretha type way). Besides, we haven't had a good game on here for a while. Not since the cock beaker thing. x

There's an official Silent Night recording which was given away to those attending the City Hall gig in December 2006. It was also included on Mojo Festive Fifteen album in 2011 (lots of copies available on e-bay)

The Sonics-don't believe in Christmas

Jeez Eoin, that's awful!! But I did discover a Motown Christmas on the search engine – don't ask me what they've got to do with it but it's a tip that paid off, in a roundabout stylee.

The Sonics is an add, taa H.

And Pops, I'm always in two minds about the Wham thing – the song is proper pants but I quite like George Michael, secretly. Pot smoking camp bloke with big hair. What's not to like?

Am collecting for my local foodbank Saturday so I thought I'd get a bit of a wiggle on among the tins of beans. xxxx

What about the entire Nick Lowe CD of Christmas songs - that he released in the summer?
