Frozen veg has never looked so romantic!

There are several versions of that one - all wonderful and would have the power to even render frozen meat pleasurable............

There's the album version, the single version, the live version and the acoustic versions from the radio.................

Let me know if you want the live and acoustic versions and I'll wing them to you tonight................

Thanks, that'd be great, I'd love to hear them :D

I'm a relatively new convert to RH, despite being a massive longpigs fan. I guess I was reluctant to move on, but now I have, I'm hooked. Still, it means I've got a lot of catching up to do!

I love it, it reminds me of my 17 year old son who is all rock and roll and a typical teenager - finding stuff out for the first time, feeling a bit overwhelmed sometimes and just generally bumbling through life.

It's a song that's typical of the way RH can write a beautiful song about a not very beautiful experience or situation. He manages to break my heart every time and I just keep listening and going back for more - genius! :D

He certainly is a genius, Maggie. Couldn't agree more. I couldn't possibly say which is my favourite Hawley song now either - there are just so many wonderful tracks to choose from - and it's the way he paints a picture with that perfect combination of music and lyrics. Atmosphere, pathos, hope, wistfulness, a sad longing sometimes - you name it and Richard has a song for it. Perfect little vignettes every one.

Scott Walker had the knack of doing that (particularly tracks such as Plastic Palace People, The Bridge and many others of that era) and Lee Hazlewood (the whole 'Trouble is a Lonesome Town' concept album for starters and as for 'My Autumn's Done Come'....) and now, thank God for Richard.

When I was much younger, I and a schoolfriend of mine used to take songs by Lee and Scott Walker and a few others and write short stories based on the lyrics. Wonder if any schoolkids are doing that with Richard's songs?

I think it's amazing how everyone will be able to fit a different experience to a song - even 'tho it may have no connection with why he wrote it that way in the first place!

(My fave Scott Walker track is 'Jackie' - makes me picture French sailors chucking barrels around and flirting with girls....)

Your avatar is ok - there's a limit to the size of an avatar anyway - if it was too big one of us would probably adjust it to the right size.
