Great photo's Jan, I love Perthshire, we stopped to see the ospreys at Loch of the Lowes for a good few years.

I took this photo of Oban Harbour while waiting for the ferry to Mull.

We had a great time. We had rain on a couple of days, but not enough to trouble us. The cottage we stayed in has wonderful views.

I only ever went to Scotland once and that was for a wedding and never got much chance to see anything...........

Nice pic. You could get a job in the jigsaw business.

We did the Tobermory (Balamory) pilgrimage at Easter a few years ago. Stayed in Josie Jump's house (well, a big yellow hotel where they filmed bits).

While waiting for the ferry I watched some seals bobbing up and down just outside the harbour wall.

Beautiful crossing. Mull was lovely. There was a great craft shop and cafe a few miles outside Tobermory near a Harry Potter-style house or castle, heading towards the beautiful cove beach at Calgary?? Did you see any sea eagles?

In the photo you can see the Victorian folly on the hilltop built by some wealthy businessman who had a thing for the Coliseum in Rome and other amphitheatres. It also helped provide labour for the town's craftsmen, stonemasons and labourers. I don't think it served any purpose.

Odd things Victorian follies, aren't they? You may have seen the one at Lancaster alongside the M6 on your trip up north? Big green dome? I think a rich industrialist built that in memory of.....himself. There's always a prize for the first person to spot it.

Anyway, I've drifted. You've brought back nice memories and reduced my blood pressure. Thanks, Susie.

I am interested in the Victorian Folly - McCaig's Tower, we walked up there when we visited 28 years ago, the views from there are lovely. We didn't have time this year. McCaig was a banker, the tower is a memorial to the McCaig family but was never finished.

I love follies, I always look out for the one at Lanaster, there is a good one at Mow Cop, Staffordshire, too

Was it Glengorm Castle you visited? We called in there this year. I took these photo's there.

We did see some Sea Eagles, Golden Eagles and a peregrine falcon (briefly). The highlight for me was seeing an otter, even though another car scared it away (see rant topic!!!)

We stopped at Calgary Bay, it is such a lovely place.

Susie, yes I think that's the castle. It looks a bit like Hogwarts? We let the kids do some bombing around in the grounds.

I remember Calgary Beach vividly. It wasn't the warmest day and I can picture Mrs N with our Jack walking out towards the tide while I waited at the car. I think our little girl must have been asleep (we only had two then).

I had a happy attack, watching from afar as mum and son went exploring across the beach.

It would be nice to return some day soon... :D

Calgary is breathtaking. I took the first 3 photo's last year, and the last one on 6th June this year from the Calgary 'Nature in Art' woodland walk. The weather was better last year. We had a paddle and found ourselves sinking a bit in the soft sand. A lot of people we shipped from there in the Highland Clearances, Calgary Bay would have been the last place they saw in Scotland. :cry: Calgary In Canada was named after this one I presume.

Went into Edinburgh on Saturday. Afternoon tea with scones, jam and clotted cream (Very 'Brief Encounter'), and then up to Calton Hill - where I proposed to my beloved, it being a leap year and all. He said yes!!
