Still rummaging through my piccies - These two pics are of our dog, Shadow at the top of Kirkstone Pass. I love The Lakes and we go there quite a lot for walking (eating/drinking!) weekends.

This one is a rather 'grainy' shot of Kirkstone from my phone, but nice view all the same. I love the way the landscape changes with the seasons and take lots of photos of the same spot in different light/weather conditions. I will desist from filling the forum with 5000 shots of Castlerigg Stone circle though! :*:

i want your dog. is he pure lab or has he got a bit of staffy in him. the drive to kirkstone pass from ambleside is legendary, especially if you're in a clapped out car with another 3 fat bastards for passengers. the pub down the road at troutbeck, the queens head, is a belter too. i could tell a tale about a drunken night, a party of gays, a water pistol fight and a birthday cake made out of soil in that establishment but it's too sordid!

I will post one anyway. :)

I took the photo on our 25th Wedding Anniversary. <*>

We encountered the Kirkstone Pass on the way to our Hotel, we were listening to U2 at the time - Vertigo and Beautiful Day were both appropriate. :)

He's aboslutely 100% pure lab. We got him from a farm in Wilsden near Bradford where the lady had bred her dogs back to the original and larger 'style' of labrador. She breeds for looks and temperament and he is the most gentle, obedient and affectionate of animals. He's 7 now but still absolutely fab. His brother won his class at Crufts a few times and the breeder was offered £30,000 for him ........... and she said she wishes she'd kept ours because he's the better specimen of the two .......... wouldn't part with him for any amount of money ...... might do a time share though :*:

Troutbeck sounds interesting! I love going up to Kirkstone via 'The Struggle' - the first road up just before Troutbeck, I think?

Well, (unlike his valuable brother) the dog has been neutered and is, therefore, worthless! :*:

[quote="Susie"][quote="Jan H"] I will desist from filling the forum with 5000 shots of Castlerigg Stone circle though! :*:

Now, don't get me started on Stone circles!

I have hundreds of pics of Stonehenge, Avebury, Callanish (Hebrides), Ring of Brodgar and Stones of Stenness (Orkney) etc etc. - not to mention the Orkney prehistoric village at Skara Brae from every conceivable angle (and even some inconceivable ones!). I think I may start a new thread.......!

They are fascinating aren't they? I must have taken pictures of Castelrigg in every available and possible light condition! It's wonderful place at dusk in mid winter.
