Good old Morecambe...........i've always had a soft spot for the town since family holidays there long ago.I even ran a hotel in Grange Over Sands for a while, which you can just make out to the right of Eric's heel.Lovely part of the world, that i really hope gets some more investment and tourists.
Nice to see the Midland restored to it's former glory...........Urban Splash development i believe.

A walk along the prom at Morecambe on a sunny day [Spring Summer Autumn Winter] is a little bit of paradise.

I alway fancied Richard playing Morecambe Winter Gardens - but until the place is brought back to it's former glory the roof of the Midland will do - with us lot on the sand - just make sure the tide is out...

Had a good laugh in Morecambe circa 76/77 - had mates at Lancaster Uni - I was a Liverpool Art school drop out - saw The Adverts and Hatfield & The North at the Student Union [not on the same bill] and love 'em both.

I share Eric Morecambe's birthdate - although not the same year

Most jealous! I love the Midland. I used to go to Morecambe a lot when I was a teenager (for love and chips, not always in that order) and we used to walk down the seafront past the Midland when it had clearly seen better days. A bungee jumping company had set up home in the front and you could jump from the back of a crane mounted on the back of a flat bed truck – it was like something out of Phoenix Nights. And then the next time I went, the hotel was boarded up, windows smashed, graffiti on the white walls. Really sad.
Was so happy when they re-opened it – really want to go for a grown up weekend there but my chap (not the same one as all those years ago!) is a dyed in the wool Londoner and would never, ever consider going to Morecambe for a dirty weekend – it's not even on the Tube!

Mmm. Just looked it up. Seaview double, two nights, end of Janaury, a few quid short of £500, £400 for B&B. Got a bit pricey, love and chips. x
