Took the kids away over half term and we went white water rafting. Now I have a huge scab on my bottom and cannot sit down. Note to self: you are nearly 50, stop letting your children goad you into doing stupid shit that you know will hurt you. x

Blizzards yesterday and today on top of last week's blizzards, people not plowing or shoveling well, wayyyyy below freezing tomorrow = the ice planet Hoth. A beautiful hellscape. My mom moved to Florida last week. I'm checking airfares at this very moment. Im sure she won't mind if I stay till May.

Meanwhile in Wales - got lucky and had a week of mostly dry / sometimes sunny weather - taking in the lights of Llandudno - just over an hour down the road from home - most pubs didn't let dogs in so we had to sit outside and be mithered by the local youth for 'filters' which was nice - but on the whole had a sweet time.

I forgot to tell you we were in Wimbledon last summer and stayed at the beautiful Hotel du Vin, situated in Cannizaro park. Probably the most beautiful and charming hotel I´ve ever stayed at, and such a beautiful park just outside. Just a happy coincident that we ended up here, as most of the other places nearby were full. What a lovely place and a lovely town - would love to go back!

So excited. Disney World with husband and extended family next month, going to eat all the Dole whips and buy all of Shag's Star Wars cantina art and have all the tiki drinks at Trader Sam's and bring home their tiki bowl shaped like the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and go to Universal for all the Harry Potter shenanigans. Then a road trip to Graceland and Sun Records in April, would not be complete without some BBQ at Rendezvous. Bonus, they're opening some new Elvis museums at Graceland in time for our visit. Dudes. Way hyped! :Hoorah <*>

For the first time in a decade, we are not camper-vanning for the summer. We fly to the Azores, to stay on the edge of a volcano.

Promised my boy that, if he did well in his GCSEs, we would do something special. Nine A*s and As, two Bs later, the lad came up trumps so two weeks watching whales and swimming with the pretty fishes. But pretending we are going camping in Cornwall as usual so ssshhhhh.

Anyone ever been? Egg, you've been everywhere... got any tips?

Looked at it a few times but never been. Looks fantastic though, especially the 2 different coloured lakes - there's various stories as to why.

Enjoy. ..>

I'm not one for holidays away from home, but Norway is one place I would like to visit one day.
