My favourite place to go on holiday is New York! In particular Coney Island, home of the world famous Hot Dog Eating Contest!

We took an inland trip to Kapadocia a few years ago. I can't recommend Turkey enough, i think its very underestimated as a holiday destination, you just have to stay away from the large resorts. I would recommend Turunc, Olu Deniz, and Kalkan.

not sure we'll be having a holiday this year but there is a very good reason why.....we will however be having plenty of day trips and weekends away, my eldest turns 18 and I want to take him somewhere, just me and him
my daughter wants us all to go to Alton Towers so that is on the cards too.

(and there will be lots of Hawley related goings on I hope so still lots to look forward to)

Great thread Helen.

I have been to Staithes and loved it, I have been to Olu Deniz a long time ago and loved it, both lovely places in their own right, but yeah cpaws Kalkan is the most beautiful place with the kindest most hospitable people. Nowadays we go on holiday wherever Mr H. is playing - last year it was London, Ipswich, Sheffield, Bridlington, Buxton and, luckily, Lyon.... hoping for one in Montevideo this year!

I have booked a few days in a B & B in Norfolk. I confirmed it today, it looks like a nice place. We are going to watch the British Super Bike racing at Snetterton and will have a look around Norfolk while we are there. My first job was with the Norwich Union and they sent me to Norwich twice for training. I didn't get chance to look around the City.

I found a voucher I forgot I had for a place we stay at in the dales, near Aysgarth falls.
I recommended a friend and they sent me £25 quid off my next stay. Gonna book a few days at half term......

Oh it's lovely there. We visited last year on our way home from watching the BSB racing at Croft near Darlington. I love waterfalls.

Am off to the Lakes for half term, up a mountain, in an old house that used to be a retreat for wayward vicars. No phone reception, no internet, no telly. Kids will come out in hives but I'll love it. x

Very gaudi-esque, speaking of which we went to Catalunya last year, fell in love with Barcelona, Terragona and a town called Sitges which was gorgeous but we didn't realise was a nudist beach until people started arriving and doffing off!

My Dad warned me not to visit Sitges when he found out we were doing a Spanish trip, so the first thing we did when we arrived at Barcelona was get the train to Sitges and book a hotel for a few nights. Of course it was all a big fuss about nothing, i'd seen men holding hands and kissing in public before, you've only to go to Canal street any night of the week, i suppose for my Dads generation it would seem quite shocking, i think he described it as akin to Sodom and Gomorrah. I thought it was a lovely seaside town, with beautiful golden beaches, and i would go back in a flash, and of course Barcelona is just half an hour away.
