Post subject:  White Christmas in Whinlatter

Just back from a few days walking (and eating and drinking) in and around Whinlatter Forest in the north west Lake District. The weather made it magical this year (I know I post a lot of Lake District Pics, particularly at this time of year ... but it IS beautiful!)

That was taken at around 8.30 am near Castlerigg. It was every bit as cold as it looked, but gorgeous.

Enjoy! I've just driven through the Lakes on my way back from a work trip to Scotland. It looked stunning under snow again. It's my favourite place in the world. Have you seen the programme 'The Lakes' on TV? Mostly centred around the busier areas - Windermere, Bowness, but lovely. Also, if you haven't seen it, watch 'Miss Potter' - Beatrix Potter's life story - just the thing to warm your heart on a winter evening, and features some stunning Lake District scenery (but get the tissues ready)
