i've been there many times in the pouring rain - generally i hate that kind of weather but for Whitby i will certainly make an exception. :D

Just back from a week in Whitby and the weather was on the whole brilliant! Had planned to walk around the Hole of Horcum on the way there but sat in the car eating lunch while it absolutely pee'd it down! Wondered for a while what we were letting ourselves in for! It also rained on the Wednesday morning but for the rest of the week it was briliant and never cold!
We did 3 serious walks along the coastline and one that started from Grosmont and took in the Malyan Spout and Goathland. It was mostly sunny, we caught the sun and got very hot at times but we were also very happy! :D
Can there be many better situations than basking in the sunshine in a pub garden, drinking Black Sheep at the top of the cliff overlooking Runswick Bay?

well thanks all for those suggestions.

i was only up there for a couple of days but weather was great and my pal steve's band is top. if you wanna hear howlin wolf's "44" sound like it should do, that's the place to be on a tues neet.

the magpie was very good, chips a bit disappointing, though the fish was excellent and lots of it, but the mushy peas were unbelievable. they were like some gourmet dish with overtones and subtle notes (as the wine freaks say)

we stayed in the posh raven hotel on ravenscar (full of oap's, they were a bit surprised when we rolled up pissed at one a.m.) but the view along the bay was breathtaking.

the falling foss is a beautiful sight, really lovely, perfect setting for a tea room, i must say, so thanks for that tip mph. and as luke said the hole of horcum is stunning too. we stopped there at dusk on the way home. very atmospheric.

cheers for the suggestions y'all
